The ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas will end the long-running war between the two countries, which has caused huge loss of life and property in the region.
International mediators mediated between the two countries, due to which the affected people have heaved a sigh of relief and expressed hope that such a war will never happen again in the future.
This blog of ours will give information about the reasons for the war between Israel and Hamas and the ceasefire agreement.
The Historical Context of the Israel-Hamas Conflict
The history of the conflict between Israel and Hamas is quite old, when Israel was established in 1948, tensions arose between Israel and Arab countries and the Palestinian population was displaced and this conflict increased over time.
There is a dispute between Israel and Hamas over the control of Gaza. The dispute has erupted between the two countries several times over Gaza, war and conflict have broken out between the two countries in 2008, 2012, 2014 and 2021. The ceasefire has always provided some relief but has failed to resolve the issue forever.
The recent war between Israel and Hamas started in October 2023, when Hamas terrorists attacked Israel, in which about 1200 Israeli people were killed and more than 250 civilians were taken hostage and after this Israel waged a war against Hamas to take revenge and took revenge selectively and destroyed Gaza in return and according to some reports, more than 46 thousand people of Hamas have been killed during this time.
Key Players in the Ceasefire
A ceasefire has been agreed between Israel and Hamas over the 15-month-long war in Gaza. The credit for the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas goes to Egypt, Qatar, the US and the United Nations.
Egypt and Qatar
Egypt and Qatar have always had good relations with both countries and have always played a mediating role.
The United Nations
The United Nations has always called for an end to the war and stressed the need to help those who have suffered losses in Gaza.
The United States
Israel’s most prominent ally, the United States, has always been pressuring both sides to reduce tensions and has always played an important role.
Implications of the Ceasefire
The ceasefire will provide immediate aid to the civilians affected by the attacks in Gaza. They will be provided with medical supplies, food and other humanitarian aid including reconstruction efforts as soon as possible.
The ceasefire shows the importance of international diplomacy as the countries that have played their role in mediation consider it their diplomatic victory and we hope that there will be no war again after this ceasefire.
After the ceasefire agreement the hostages will be released in a phased manner, in the first phase women, children, elderly, sick and injured hostages will be released and in return Israel will release some Palestinian prisoners and after a few days both the countries will again gradually release all the hostages between them.
The Path Forward
Both countries need to resolve issues through dialogue for lasting peace so that they do not go back to war again. Some of the efforts are as follows:
Diplomatic Efforts: The international community should come together to create an environment for dialogue between Israel and Palestine and encourage negotiations between the two countries.
Economic Development: Raise the standard of living of people in Gaza by investing in education, healthcare, and infrastructure so that they do not support terrorist groups.
Conclusion
The ceasefire between Israel and Hamas always seems like a ray of hope and gives some relief to the people affected by the violence but then something happens from the Hamas side which forces Israel to go to war because everyone has the right to protect the citizens of their country.
We want both the countries to sit together and solve the problems through diplomatic means so that millions of people of both the countries are not affected by this and we wish a bright future for both the countries.
